Clinic with Bettine Vriesekoop

On Monday 5 June, TTV Amstelveen organised a table tennis clinic together with Amstelveen Sport.
All over-55s in Amstelveen were invited and just under thirty of them attended.
The clinic was led by Bettine Vriesekoop, the Netherlands’ most well-known table tennis star (European champion and winner of European top-12 Championships, among others) and ambassador of the Dutch Table Tennis Association.

Table tennis is a sport that can be played into old age. Various studies have shown that table tennis contributes to a longer and healthier life.

This afternoon, Bettine explained why this is so and she let the participants experience through some exercises that simple games like bouncing a ball on a table tennis bat quickly become more difficult when you have to do it e.g. on one leg.

On table tennis, she talked about correct posture, the right way of holding the bat and hitting the ball and her experiences with Chinese table tennis.

Finally, Bettine played against the whole group with a game of round-the-table.

Nice presentation and exercises!
