On Saturday, July 5th, the annual Family Tournament took place at TTV Amstelveen. With 11 enthusiastic teams — each consisting of one senior and one junior player, preferably from the same family — the day promised (and delivered) sportsmanship, fun, and great connections.
Thanks to the timely arrival of almost all participants, we were able to start right at 11:00 AM. The tournament was organized by Guus, with indispensable help from Ben — together they ensured the day ran smoothly from beginning to end.
By the way, Ben thanks for the photos and report on Facebook!
Tournament Format
The format was inspired by the duo competition:
- Each team played against all the other teams in their group (of 4 or 6 teams).
- The top two teams from each group advanced to the semi-finals.
- The winners of the semi-finals competed in the final for first place.
Upon arrival, all players received two drink tokens — a small gesture to add a festive touch to the tournament.
Results
- Group A was won by Team Pengxuan, with Team Roy surprisingly taking second place.
- In Group B, Team Sebastiaan confidently secured first place, followed by Team Dimana.
The semi-finals brought exciting matches, with Team Pengxuan and Team Roy emerging victorious and qualifying for the final. In the final match, Pengxuan He and his teammate Lei Ma claimed the win — a well-deserved victory!
In the battle for third place, Sebastiaan and his father defeated Dimana and her father.
A Wonderful Conclusion
After the award ceremony at 4:30 PM, all teams went home with a satisfied smile. A beautiful end to a day full of sport — and for many, the official start of a well-deserved summer holiday.
