Housing development at Landtong

On 22 October 2025, the Amstelveens Nieuwsblad published an article (in Dutch) about the planned housing development on the Landtong.
This specific area is the former location of our hall, which means that the future residents will become our immediate neighbours.
The visual impression of the project comes from developer VORM Ontwikkeling, and the photo of the signing board was provided by the Municipality of Amstelveen.

Text of the Amstelveens Nieuwsblad article (in English):

Construction of four apartment buildings with 160 homes on Landtong in the Groenelaan neighbourhood

AMSTELVEEN In the Landtong area, where a new school building was recently completed, four apartment buildings with 160 homes will be built in the coming years. Following a tender process, the municipality selected VORM Ontwikkeling B.V. to build these sustainable flats in the mid-range rental and owner-occupied sector. The project will comprise 72 rental flats and 88 owner-occupied flats. It will be called “Landjuweel”.

The plan submitted by the developer VORM was selected as the best in the tender process. This brings the realisation of a new residential area on municipal land one step closer. ‘The vast majority of housing projects in Amstelveen are not on municipal land. This means that we are less able to steer towards our ambitions in terms of affordability, sustainability and visual quality. In this case, however, it is municipal land and VORM shares our ambitions in terms of sustainability, greenery and the integration of affordable housing,’ says Alderman Floor Gordon (Spatial Planning).

CONSTRUCTION TO START AT THE END OF 2026
Based on the zoning plan adopted on 17 February 2021, four apartment buildings with a total of 160 apartments are planned. The buildings will have four to five storeys and underground parking facilities. The neighbourhood will have a park-like appearance. The local council and developer will be working out the construction plan in the coming period. The permit is expected to be granted in the fourth quarter of 2026, after which preparations for construction can begin.

SCHOOL LOCATION
The redevelopment of this area at Landtong is part of a broader plan that has been in preparation since 2018. The old schools have now been replaced by a single new building that includes childcare facilities and a gym. The merger created space for housing on the vacated site.
