We sincerely congratulate Marco Mogendorff on his royal honour (Member of the Order of Orange-Nassau).

See the article in the Amstelveens Nieuwsblad (in Dutch), which also features the group photo taken by Christ Clijsen.

From this article:

24 April 2026 AMSTELVEEN
On Friday morning, as part of the annual King’s Day honours, Mayor Poppens presented 11 royal honours at the town hall. M.A. Bongers and J.H.F. Lans were appointed Knights in the Order of Orange-Nassau. The other nine residents were appointed Members of the Order of Orange-Nassau. All these people have devoted themselves selflessly to the Amstelveen community as volunteers over a long period of time. The number of honours awarded is lower than in previous years; in 2025 there were 13 and in 2024 there were 15.

Appointed as Members of the Order of Orange-Nassau:

Marco Mogendorff. He is active in the religious, cultural and social life of the Jewish community. He has held various administrative and coordinating roles, including in Jewish youth activities, study funds and the synagogue at Amstelland Hospital. As chair of the synagogue committee and the gabbai team, he played a key role in organising and facilitating religious services and social activities.

And Marco’s own reaction on his Facebook page:

“Today I was surprised with a Royal Honour, presented by Mayor Tjapko Poppens of Amstelveen, in recognition of 45 years of voluntary work in all its forms. A truly honourable moment.

Thank you to everyone who worked on this in secret.

I am also grateful to my family, Renate de Schaap, Shoshanna Mogendorff, Elon Mogendorff and Adaya Mogendorff, who have given me the space to do this voluntary work all these years — sometimes with a bit of grumbling.”
