Here is a report from multi-talented Arjan Verburg (this time not as chairman, but as organiser, competition leader, player and prize winner) about the 2025 club championships for seniors.
On 6 September 2025, the TTV Amstelveen club championships were held.
Ten participants were ready for a sporting and exciting ‘tienkamp’. The atmosphere in the hall was energetic, with players and spectators enthusiastically cheering each other on.
From the first round, it was clear that Brian was in top form. With his consistent strokes and cool-headed play, he managed to win one match after another.
Ryan, still young but very talented, put up excellent resistance and showed some beautiful rallies.
Unfortunately, Arjan was feeling a little ill and therefore performed below par. Nevertheless, he kept fighting and tried to surprise his opponents with clever shots.
In the seventh round, the long-awaited clash between Brian and Ryan took place. The tension was high, as both players were at the top of the interim rankings. After a number of spectacular rallies, Brian came out on top. This victory gave him the decisive lead in the tournament.
Meanwhile, Arkady, Sergey and Andrei also showed their fighting spirit in exciting matches. Although they did not reach the podium, they contributed to the dynamics of the day.
Micha and Roy managed to score some nice points despite tough opponents.
Gerard played with dedication, but ultimately had to settle for last place.
The tournament management had organised everything tightly and ensured that the schedule ran smoothly. As the day progressed, the tension surrounding the top three grew.
The final standings were: 1st Brian, 2nd Ryan, 3rd Arjan,
followed by William (Alex), Arkady, Andrei, Micha, Sergei, Roy and Gerard.
It was a wonderful day full of sportsmanship, competition and fun at TTV Amstelveen.
