Club championships 2024 seniors

Report by Guus Korper

On Sunday, September 8th, 24 enthusiastic players gathered at TTV Amstelveen for the annual senior club championships. With table tennis paddles in hand, a healthy dose of nerves, and a competitive spirit, they were ready to battle it out for the coveted title of club champion.

The day kicked off with the group stage, where players competed against each other in different pools. From the very first match, it was clear that everyone was eager to win. The competition was fierce, and the supporters on the sidelines were fully engaged with every thrilling rally and crucial point. The sound of balls hitting the tables and paddles was accompanied by cheers and applause.

After a few hours of intense matches and impressive performances, it was time for a well-deserved break. Players took a moment to relax, enjoying a snack and a drink, while mentally preparing for the second phase, which featured an A and B group.

Even after the break, the tension remained high, as every match brought players one step closer to the title or elimination. There were some spectacular rallies, and emotions ran high at times, but everything was conducted in a spirit of sportsmanship and respect.

The final group matches were the highlight of the day. The top players in each group faced off, giving everything they had. After some nail-biting matches, full of powerful smashes, clever play, and nerve-wracking moments, there could only be one winner. Just like last year, Ryan Saheblal emerged victorious, keeping Arjan, Kaustav, Brian, and Ali at bay, and proudly claiming the title of TTV Amstelveen club champion!

It was a fantastic day filled with great moments, impressive performances, and lots of camaraderie. A big thank you to all the players, supporters, and volunteers who made this day a success. We’re already looking forward to next year’s championships, which will be held in our new venue!
