Conclusion of the 75th Anniversary Year

The youth have already received their 75th-anniversary shirts, and we are awaiting the final shirts for the seniors. Once they arrive, we will distribute them.

The youth concluded with a fun table tennis activity by MJ, and the seniors had a closing party with a DJ, marking the end of the anniversary year.

Evaluation of Bar Duty for Competition Teams

In its latest meeting, the board conducted an initial evaluation and is reasonably satisfied with how things went. We understand that, for most, it was the first time. We noticed that tasks such as restocking inventory and handling payments were a bit challenging. It was also not always easy to fulfill bar duty when the team had to play. Ensuring that a key is available to properly secure everything has our attention. In January, the schedule for bar duties during the spring competition will be communicated to all competition teams, along with additional points of focus. If you have comments on this matter, please send an email to Brian van den Heuvel at penningmeester@ttvamstelveen.nl.

Big Club Action

Despite the proceeds being less than the previous (record) year, we achieved a good amount of EUR 945. Thanks to all ticket sellers, especially Atie, and of course, thanks to all ticket buyers. We can put this money to good use for setting up our canteen at the new location! The top ticket sellers among the youth have already chosen their well-deserved prizes.

URGENT HELP NEEDED!

  • We urgently need someone to clean our canteen for compensation. It’s about every two weeks for 2 hours each time. If you’re interested or know someone who might be interested, or if you want more information, please contact Atie Vos at 55plus@ttvamstelveen.nl.
  • We are also looking for help in setting up and building the canteen (bar and kitchen, etc.) at our new location. Who wants to help us with this? Sign up via voorzitter@ttvamstelveen.nl.

TTV Amstelveen Open 2024

We received many positive responses to the open tournament organized by TTV Amstelveen last May as one of the events to celebrate the 75th anniversary of our association. Therefore, the board has decided to organize another open tournament in 2024. Save the dates of Saturday, May 25th (youth) and Sunday, May 26th (seniors) in your calendar. More information will follow in the new year. Of course, we are also looking for volunteers to help. If you want to sign up already, send a message to Brian van den Heuvel via penningmeester@ttvamstelveen.nl.

Youth Membership

The youth membership of Table Tennis Club Amstelveen remains stable, hovering just below 50 members. The club continues to attract a lively and engaged group of enthusiastic young players.

Training

The training sessions are well attended, with an average of 31 children per training day divided into 3 groups. Usually, there are 3 trainers present to guide the youth members. To further improve the training, we are looking for parents or volunteers who can assist as assistant trainers on Mondays and/or Thursdays. With the last training behind us, which turned out to be a very enjoyable tournament, we wish all children a well-deserved holiday. The first training in 2024 is scheduled for Monday, January 8th.

Special thanks go to Marijke, Martin, Edwin, Ben, Alex, and Guus for their dedication during the weekly training sessions.

Youth Competition

The youth teams have achieved excellent results. Three out of four teams have become champions and will be promoted to a higher division. Congratulations to Team 1, Starters Team 1, and Starters Team 2! Unfortunately, Starters Team 3 could not secure a championship as they had to yield to Starter Team 1 in their pool. With the promotion and the addition of a new starter team, there will be a total of 5 teams participating in the competition next season, divided into 1x 4th class, 2x 5th class, and 2x starter teams.

Communication and Discipline

There is a need for improvement in communication with parents and youth members. It appears that emails are not being read or communicated well with the youth members. A urgent call is made to parents to motivate their children and strengthen communication. Additionally, discipline in the hall needs to improve. There is a request to reduce shouting, listen better to the trainers, and, most importantly, to be present well on time. Discipline is essential for an effective and enjoyable training experience.

All questions and comments can be submitted via jeugd@ttvamstelveen.nl or directly to the trainers. Let’s work together for a successful and enjoyable table tennis season for our youth members!

Of course, on behalf of the board, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
