TTV Amstelveen 1 wins difficult home match against Avanti 2
After several years of not playing or not completing competitions, senior team 1 is finally back in the 3rd division of the national league of the Dutch Table Tennis Association (NTTB).
Unfortunately, team leader Arjan Verburg is likely to be sidelined for the entire calendar year due to a torn cruciate ligament. Good luck Arjan.
After a respectable 5-5 draw in the first match against HBC 1 from Heemstede, the home match against Avanti 2 from Hazerswoude was on the programme last Friday, 11 February.
Ryan Saheblal had not been able to train for a few weeks and was clearly not in good shape yet. Still he managed to win a match and in his last match he was close to winning.
Brian Bakker played very well, winning 1 match quite easily, his other 2 matches were exciting and both were decided in the final 5th game, one of them in his favour.
Brian van den Heuvel had a bit of a rough start in his first match but reached a high level this evening and won all his matches.
The doubles match of Brian and Brian did not work out this time and was lost quite easily in 3 games.
Still a 6-4 win is a good result for Amstelveen 1 against Avanti 2 which was relegated from the 2nd division.
The next match is an away match against SVE from Utrecht on Friday 25 February.
