On Friday 24 April, we held another game of klaverjassen in our canteen at the Landtong. No fewer than 24 experienced and less experienced players had signed up, allowing us to form exactly six tables. Three rounds were played, and in each round the pairs and table allocation were decided by drawing lots.
Jan-Jaap was kind enough to serve drinks in between rounds and hand out platters of cheese and various sausages. Monique, Guus, Atie and Arjan also helped out in the kitchen to ensure everything ran smoothly.
Brian stepped in for Mick to tally up all the scores, and at exactly 12 o’clock the winners were announced. Sven – thanks to a lucky draw, according to some – was well ahead of everyone else, followed by Jerome and then, at a respectable distance, by Ladi and Richard. Atie walked away with the booby prize.
Thank you all for a lovely evening, and thanks to Gerard for organising it. And perhaps, maybe even soon, we can do it all again?
