Match report week 2 of spring competition 2023

Two reports this time.
From glorious winners, of course: losers don’t write history

TTVA – 1st senior team wins tough away match against HTC from Hoofddorp

Saturday 11 February saw the 1st senior team of TTVA, playing in the 3rd division of the national league, take on the always difficult away match against regional partner HTC from Hoofddorp. They still lost 7-3 in autumn 2022.

The first match this spring against US 1 had ended in a resounding 9-1 victory for Amstelveen 1, with leading player Arjan Verburg unfortunately failing to win 1 match.

Now for the away match against HTC. Arjan started against Kaustav but unfortunately did not get into his game, 1-0 for HTC. Brian van den Heuvel played solidly against leader Ali and managed to force his opponent into mistakes with varied play, 1-1. Brian Bakker took it a bit too easy after a smoothly won 1st game against Ioannis and eventually lost in 4 games. The double of Brian and Brian went up and down in terms of play but after missed chances in the 4th game, the HTC double Kaustav and Ali won the 5th game quite easily, 3-1.

Fortunately, Amstelveen started to play well and after three games that were won quite easily in three games, the score was 3-4 in Amstelveen’s favour. The last three games both sides played very well with many nice rallies, which was appreciated by the spectators with applause. Amstelveen, however, was slightly stronger and all three games were won in four tight games with a 3-7 final score in Amstelveen’s favour. A fine start to the spring league for Amstelveen 1.

TTVA – 8th senior team wins easily over Tempo-Team 23 from Amsterdam

On Thursday 9 February, team 8 played Tempo-Team 23 at the President Kennedylaan.

Jaap Boerop was first in action against Jos, Jaap lost the match in fours. Gerard van Buuren and Jan-Jaap Troost then won against Hillka Wolschrijn and Petra de Haas.

The double was played by Jos and Petra for Tempo-Team and for Amstelveen by Gerard and Jaap. The double and subsequent matches were all won by team 8.

Final result Tempo-Team 23-Amstelveen 8, 1-9.
