On Monday 23 June 2025, the Dutch Table Tennis Association (NTTB) celebrated its 90th anniversary exactly.
One of the events to celebrate this was a table tennis demonstration by Olympic table tennis legends Jan Ove Waldner (a.o. Olympic and World champion) and Jürgen Persson (a.o. semi-final Olympic and World champion) and the Dutch team with Barry Berben, Kas van Oost, Milo de Boer and Karlijn van Lierop.
It was quite a drive on this Monday to Venray but TTV Amstelveen was well represented in the stands: Arjan, Jeffrey, Micha, Jo, Paul, Andrei, Keisuke and Brian were present to come and watch the play of these top players.
Jan Ove and Jürgen took turns taking on the Dutch team and, after a nice “cap on cap off” game and a well-deserved break, played a demo match against each other as a finale, during which they also showed various tricks. Again, a very warm sports hall, after our TTV Amstelveen Open this past weekend, but the men showed they could still play well, with Persson clearly proving to be the fittest.
