Our team with Viktor, Aset, Raymond, William and Aravindhan became champions in the 3rd class after a blood-curdling denouement. They went into the last round of play with only a 1-point lead and a worse mutual result so every point was super important.
Amstelveen 4 got off to a flying start against JOVO 5 and after three simple wins in three games it was already 3-0. The double was different, after an exciting 5 setter the 4th point was raked in with 11-9 in the last game.
Next was Raymond, who had not played much this competition. He was clearly not in shape yet and unfortunately lost in 4 games. Aset and Viktor put the team back on track with two wins in three games.
Unfortunately for Raymond, in his last game he had to congratulate his opponent with 11-9 in the 5th game. There was still some confusion because the competitor’s score in the NTTB app changed a few times but because Viktor and Aset showed their best game this evening and won their last games, all uncertainty came to an end with an 8-2 victory. TEAM 4 CHAMPIONS!!!
The championship was toasted in the canteen with a bottle of Palinka brought by Viktor. Gentlemen, congratulations and good luck in the 2nd class.
