Jubilee Open Tournament – help wanted

Dear members,

Coming Saturday May 20 (youth) and Sunday May 21 (seniors) there will be the TTV Amstelveen Jubilee Open tournament in connection with the 75th anniversary of our association. You should have received an invitation a few weeks ago.

Otherwise see this link for further details: 75 anniversary Open Tournament – TTVAmstelveen. Be sure to register, the doubles matches will start right after the singles pool matches, so don’t forget the doubles too!

Volunteers needed to help

Now of course a tournament does not organize itself, we really need you as members to make it a super fun tournament these days for all participants.

What do we need your help for?

1. Building up the hall, setting up tables, putting up fences, set the counting tables, counting boards and chairs. At this moment it is not clear if we can do this Friday evening May 19 or Saturday morning May 20. I would estimate that we need 2 hours for this if we have a sufficient number of people.

2. Saturday, May 20, for the youth players. Here we need us to have hall attendants and first aiders. The hall will open at 08.30 in the morning and the last finals are scheduled for 18.30. Of course, all help is most welcome, even if you can only free up part of the day for this.

3. Sunday, May 21, for the seniors. The same applies here as for Saturday, but I also understand that a number of senior members are going to participate in this tournament and thus play themselves.

4. Dismantling the hall. Right after the tournament ends on Sunday. However, we can already start to dismantle part of the hall as we head toward the finals. So I estimate we will need one hour after the tournament is over.

What exactly does a hall attendant do? A hall attendant reports the results of the matches to the tournament lead on a regular basis so that the results are up to date available on the internet via toernooi.nl. The hall attendant also makes sure that the matches are played as smoothly as possible and tables are not left empty unnecessarily. Furthermore, the hall attendant is available to answer all kinds of questions from participants. So it is certainly not difficult to do.

The tournament lead (Rijko Kramer of HTC and myself) and the NTTB representative (Arjen Kreike on Saturday and Ron Suanet on Sunday) will also be there in case there is anything you as a hall attendant are not sure of.

Finally – sign up to help

So it would be great if you can help us with one or more of the above mentioned activities. Please sign up by sending me an email and indicate what you would like to help with and when you are available so we can make a schedule.

Thank you very much in advance!

Kind regards, on behalf of the jubilee committee,

Brian van den Heuvel
