On Saturday 15 June, 13 youth members of TTV Amstelveen fought for the title of club champion youth 2024.
The championships started at 11 am but at just past 10 am many youth members were already present to play in (photo 01).
As everyone was present on time, we could start on time.
Under the watchful eye of trainer and tournament coordinator Guus Korper, the preliminary round was completed via 2 pools (photo 02).
After the preliminary round, the strongest players in pool A fought for places 1 to 6 and the weaker players in pool B fought for places 7 to 13 (photo 03).
It was nice to see disciplined but above all sporty! play. This gave a lot of calm in the hall, which is not always the case during training sessions.
Between matches, there was time for a snack and a drink in our always cosy canteen, where the bar was manned by assistant tournament leader and trainer Ben Rigter.
An exciting final and semi-final eventually decided who could take home the prizes for places 1 to 4.
The final was ‘formally’ refereed by our highly respected club member and international table tennis referee Jan Jaap Troost (photo 04).
After exciting cross-finals, it was the turn of tournament leader Guus to award the prizes for places 1 to 4.
