The spring 2023 junior competition has ended.
This competition we played, for the first time this century, with no less than 7 teams in the Holland-North division of the NTTB. This was divided into 4 teams in the regular competition and 3 teams in the starter competition.
Regular competition
Team 1 (Aris, Aadit, Taha and Yavuz) managed to hold on easily in the previously dreaded 2nd class, partly due to the strong play of Taha and Yavuz. Well done men, we are proud of you and your development.
Team 2 (Vrishti, Ioanna, PengYu and Sid) played in the 3rd class for the first time. Unfortunately, only Vrishti managed to reach the 3rd class level with 15 wins from 29 games. Because Sid suddenly stopped playing table tennis this team also played several times incomplete or with substitutes which eventually resulted in a last-place finish in the group.
Team 3 (Leon, Kuzey, Amrit, Aatish) was competing in the 4th class and managed to secure a neat 3rd place in the group, mainly thanks to a very strong playing Leon, who managed to win 22 of the 26 matches, assisted by Kuzey in particular. The whole team is clearly growing.
Team 4 (Ekin, Atarv, Druv and Andrii) played with “new” players in the 5th class. Especially Atarv is improving tremendously and managed to win 17 out of 24 matches. Of the remaining players, we simply expect them to perform even better next season than they already did now.
Starters competition
With starters team 1 (Lina, Dimana and Elisa) we even had a women’s team for the first time. And the team managed to perform excellently. The vastly improving Lina, mostly against much older and taller players, scored the best. With 12 out of 18, she was the top player on the team. But without the improving Dimana and Elisa, they would never have been able to create the atmosphere and team spirit as it was. Next season, we will just make strides again on our way to the regular competition.
Starters team 2 (Yu-Chen, Maurits and Reyansh) Because Rianna indicated she was quitting the league we suddenly found ourselves with a personnel problem But fortunately who suddenly came walking in …. Yu-Chen ; possibly the greatest talent we have had in years. She has only been in the Netherlands for half a year but was the only one in the league to win 100% of her games. Maurits and Reyansh are also progressing fast. They will have to work hard next season (without Yu-Chen) to become even better than they already are.
Starting team 3 (Jonathan, Bauke and Emre) also played competition for the first time. Especially enthusiastic, always with a smile and pretty good results were a fact. That the very young Emre did not win anything was anticipated and handled nicely by the teammates. Emre is always smiling and having fun and that is perhaps worth more than a win. We are convinced that his first win next season will be a fact.
