Lightning start Seniors Amstelveen 2
DOV 3 visited Amstelveen’s 2nd senior team in the major regional league last Friday 3 February. The first three games were won fairly easily by Brian, Jeffrey (although, 18-16 in the fourth game) and Ece.
The double Jeffrey and Brian went up and down a bit against Mike and Rob who fought their way back into the match with a miraculous edge ball at the end of the 4th game, but was still decided 11-7 in Amstelveen’s favour.
Ece then had a very tough time against Niels and managed to win with much difficulty 11-9 in the 5th game. Brian also struggled against ‘re-entrant player’ Mike: after winning the first two games quite easily, and after losing game 3, Brian was again fortunate to win 11-9 in the fourth game.
The last 3 games were again won relatively easily by Amstelveen, although against Mike in the 4th game Ece had no less than 5 miracle balls. Speaking of miracles, on match point Brian played the ball back on the table with his hand behind his back and ended up winning the point as well to the surprise of everyone.
In the end, a resounding 10-0 victory was on the board at midnight, and after the 9-1 win in the 1st match against US 3, we can definitely call this a lightning start.
The next match is on Friday 10 February in and against TSTZ Haarlem.
